Carli and Ben's wintery barn inspired stationery

Carli and Ben get married today! Eek!

Here is the wedding stationery I created for them. They had a folding card, with hand stitched guest names and a pocket to hold their information cards. Carli wanted to include an image of the venue, Mythe Barn, as it was under construction. She will be one of the first brides to marry there since its completion late this year.

I also did their on the day stationery which I hope to be able to share with you soon.

The wedding is being shot by the amazing Nicola of Daffodil Waves...needless to say I am very excited to see the photos!

Enjoy and I'd love to know what you think :)

A Christmas Wedding

This was an email I received last night from my most recent bride. It put a big smile on my face.

Way back in June I created a simple wedding invitation for Hannah and Andrews wedding. A few weeks later, Hannah got back in touch - could I possibly help her with flowers as she'd been let down by a florist and wasn't really sure what she wanted to do.

She told me her colour scheme was orange and navy blue. I was sold.

Below are the elements I created for her.

Enjoy.

The Bouquet
Hannah wanted a colour bouquet, but not something too strong so we went for peaches with subtle use of a stronger orange and a small amount of blue. Hannah loved the felt balls I had used in another bouquet so we used these to bring out the accent colours.

The Bridesmaids
Hannahs Bridesmaids didn't really want flowers and so instead I created wrist corsages for them using the same ribbon on Hannahs bouquet and including pears and felt balls to tie everything together. The bridesmaids wore navy blue so these little beauties would stand out perfectly.

The Centrepieces
Sticking with the more subtle shades from Hannahs bouquet I created flower balls on a variety of different candle holders to make the focal pieces for her tables. These were teamed with individual glass bottles that held the accent colours of orange and blue and candles made in hollowed out oranges.

Hannah also had hanging garlands from me as well.

Mother of the Bride and Groom and Button Holes
This was a chance to bring out the accent colours again. The Mothers of Hannah and Andrew had corsages made with the subtle tones in Hannahs bouquet whilst the groom and his men each had a different button hole to compliment both Hannahs bouquet and the bridesmaids corsages.

The Table Plan
Hannahs stationery was based on a tree theme so this was carried through to her table plan as well.

Finger Print Tree Of Love
The final piece to complete Hannahs collection of pretties was a finger print tree. The tree was that used on her table plan and other stationery and she had 3 inks to create her 'leaves', an orange, navy blue and light blue selection. I hope to have a photo of the finished thing to show you at some point. It is such a great interactive activity for your guests to partake in. I can't wait to see the finished tree full of leaf finger prints.

And there you have it. A complete wedding.

I'll hopefully be sharing some of the official wedding photos with you soon but here's a little guest snap shot of the beautiful bride herself...

Beautiful 'Van Gough' Bird

So, you may or may not know that I paint. I thought I'd share one with you I have completed recently.

Painting is a funny thing. Actually, art in general is funny, It's very subjective. It's one persons take on subject. This take on, or the way they see it in their head can be so different from what you or I see.

This is why I love art. It causes debate. You might look at my art and think, eh, but why can't I see his eye properly, why does his hair blend into that tree, but her nose only has one nostril. But good. I hope it makes you think about light, shade, feelings and generally outside of the box a little.

A friend of mine approached me a few months back with this gorgeous photo of him and his very beautiful wife and asked me if I'd paint a version of it for her 30th birthday...

I mean really, how super gorgeous are they?

The pressure is definitely ON when I get asked to do a portrait. Especially when it is of someone I know. Because regardless of what I have said previously, I still want my clients to be happy and to love whatever I create for them. But, I guess like with photography, they have sussed me out prior to approaching me and know the sort of thing I will come back with.

So I thought I'd share the painting process with you. From start to finish. Apologies that my pics are only iPhone snaps but it still gives you an idea.

Hopefully you will like my interpretation of the above image.

The lucky lady was thrilled with the final outcome and we have been having fun filled discussions about frames and where she is going to hang it in her new apartment :)

It makes me sad to hand these things over when they have had my attention for weeks but I'm so happy when a client is over the moon.

Enjoy

Explore. Dream. Discover.

I'm a firm believer in making your own destiny. Of late, I have been pushing for things that I want, things I really want.

I am working my tooshie off to create an amazing stand for the Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza, I am fulfilling all my bridal deadlines and continuing to take new brides onto the books and I'm graphic designing all over the shop.

Life is very VERY busy at the moment but this is by choice and I'd have it no other way.

I have a dream (can you ever say this without impersonating Mr King?), in fact I have lots of dreams and some of them are coming to life. Which is a strange strange feeling. To get something you actually want can be slightly overwhelming. But god it's a good feeling.

I feel like all my hard work over the past 6 months is really starting to pay off. It is very satisfying indeed.

I'll be revealing more over the next few months but for now, here's a little ditty from Mark Twain. I'm doing it folks, and if I can do it, so can you.

Go on, explore, dream and discover.

Massivest(?!) of Friday loves to you all

Something Blue...

I first spoke to bride Lara back in March of this year when she left a comment on Rock My Wedding's blog post of my wedding, telling me how much she admired my hairband and bouquet and how it was exactly what she was looking for for her September wedding.

This was the first time I'd thought that Beautiful Bird Creations could work as a business. Surely if one person was interested, then others would be too?

I emailed Lara, asking what she was after and trying to get a feel for her personality and her wedding. And I loved her straight away. Lara is witty, thoughtful, caring and above all a very excited and in love girl wanting the wedding of her dreams.

I felt a connection with Lara straight away. She was planning her wedding amidst finishing university. Exactly the same as I was when planning mine. We exchanged the difficulties of focusing on your education when you have so much excitement going on outside of that.

So cut a long story short, Lara had her bridal bouquet from me, along with button holes for the groom and groomsmen and also hair combs for herself.

She kept me updated with all her details along the way, sending me photos of her in her dress, sharing her inspirations with me and photos of her hair combs during her hair trial.

I got to know her so well and I'll miss her humorous emails.

Lara got married 2 weeks ago and I wish her all the love, luck and happiness in the world.

Hope you enjoy the photos of her flowers.

It's all about EWE!

Yes, it really is all about EWE!

You may have heard me talking about the above event on twitter and on this very blog. Here is a LOT more information about it. I would love to see you there in November. It's going to be HUGE.

Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza – It’s all about EWE!!
Sunday 4th November 2012 in Birmingham

What happens when three slightly mad wedding suppliers come together? They hatch a crazy plan….that’s what!!  When Sassy (Assassynation), Jo (Couture Company) and Vikki (Liliia) got nattering over a glass of wine (standard) they decided that they would put on a Wedding Extravaganza with a real mix of suppliers.

“We want to put on an amazing wedding extravaganza (aka fair) that would be exciting for both the suppliers and  couples alike, so we hatched a plan “A-team” style (Hannibal Smith would be proud).

The idea is that we want people to shake off the shackles of what is considered ‘normal’ or ‘traditional’ and to take their own personalities and loves and stamp them on their weddings, so we have picked suppliers who can help ewe do that!

This is no ordinary wedding show, the suppliers aka the Baad Ass Mother Flockers have been chosen and invited based on their personalities, the quality of their end product and the fact that they offer something unique. White linen covered trestle tables are discouraged and hard sells are banished, we want you to come along, have a drink and a good old natter to the Mother Flockers that catch your eye. The Mo Flo’s are being challenged to create stands that are totally unique and interactive. As well as having awesome Mo Flo’s at the show, we will be running some competitions, having a fashion walkabout/ramble and organising a treasure hunt! Prizes will include free photography sessions, make overs and styling, free cakes, accessories and Big BIG Discount vouchers.

So we are putting a call out to all you gamers, goths, geeks, rockabillies, psychobillies, off the walls, mods and rockers, steampunks, new punks, old punks, flappers ,happy clappers, hipsters and hell-raisers, bohemians, folks who are inked and pinked, or if Ewe just want YOU to shine through. We hope to offer you some things that are really EWEnique for your weddings.

Our Motto
“Don’t be a wedding sheep…it’s all about EWE!!! “

Our venue, Fazeley Studios, was chosen due to the fact it is such a gorgeous space (and yes they do have weddings there) with tons of natural light to show off our Mo Flo’s work in the best possible way.

Have a ramble round the website, register and get your tickets early at a BAAAAArgain price of £3 YES !!! EWE heard right…..only £3 !!!!

See EWE soon
